Winter's Bone [DVD] DVD ~ Jennifer Lawrence
Winter's Bone [DVD] DVD ~ Jennifer Lawrence
4.0 out of 5 stars GRIM BUT GREAT, 26 July 2014
It's winter in The Ozarks of Missouri. The only person left to run the household is 17 year old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence). There's no money and they are running out of food. Her father has disappeared on them, her mother is withdrawn and uncommunicative, and her young brother and sister are not old enough to fend for themselves. There are animals to feed, wood to chop, and life couldn't get much tougher. Except it could. Carly Whitten (Cameron Diaz), a successful lawyer, is shocked when it comes to light that the man she has been dating, the one she thought was 'the one', is married. Mark needs to be taught a lesson and Hell hath no fury like three women scorned.

Cameron Diaz is naturally funny and in The Other… Read more

Ex con, Joe Ransom (Nicolas Cage), has done time in the past because of his quick temper and all he wants now is a quiet life alone, with his dog, running his company which kills trees for a living, and watching TV in the evening. If people will just leave him in peace then he might never do time again. He hires black guys to do his work and they're a good team, getting along well with each other, sassing each other as they poison the trees so a lumber company can legally come and chop them down to clear the area for construction. Then one day a fifteen year old white boy, Gary Jones (Tye Sheridan), turns up asking for work for himself and his father (Gary Poulter). Joe, a kind man at… Read more
