CPE Bach: Magnificat; Motet Heilig Ist Gott ~ Elizabeth Watts

CPE Bach was clearly moving to a more operatic and classical style than his great father. These performances a springy and vibrant and the orchestral sound is great. However, the quality of the vocal soloists strikes me as wrong for this period. The vibrato is too wide and the performances in the solos are horribly operatic in what is, after all, essentially church music. Admittedly, the performance portrayed here was originally a concert performance. This is tremendous music but it has a sense of not being 'right' - at least to my taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart small television, 17 Feb 2013
We needed to replace an out-dated small television in our kitchen. After a lot of research, we chose this one. Having decoded the none-too clear instructions on how to fit it to the stand it was quick to set up. After plugging it in it asked a few questions and really did do the set-up procedure very efficiently and quickly. The 'smart' features, such as i-player are useful, although not essential for what we wanted. The picture is bright and clear and the sound is fine for this sort of TV. I don't agree with the reviewers who have said otherwise. The controller is easy to use and the interface is modern, quick and clear. Overall, if you want a small TV - knowing that it will never… Read more
Carbs & Cals: A Visual Guide to Carbohydrate & Cal&hellip by Chris Cheyette
Having been a diabetic for several decades, I have never come across a book quite like this. I shows very clear pictures, on standard-sized plates and bowls, of foods you might buy in a restaurant or make yourself. I was sceptical at first bgut having tried several in practice, the various items really do enable you to know your carbohydrate intake and to inject quick-acting insluin in the right amounts. This book is not packet-sized but, if you can carry it, it is a great guide to living a normal life with diabetes. I understand there is also an 'app'.
