5.0 out of 5 stars Made me Laugh out Loud, 17 Oct 2013
Bought simply because I like travel books about the UK.

I started reading this book on the way home from work on my Kindle. I had to turn it off...I kept laughing out loud, and I was getting strange looks off my fellow travellers. Even turning it off didn't work, I kept sniggering due to the visual images I had in my head from the writing - leading to even more strange looks from fellow commuters.

Give it a go :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it!!, 31 July 2012
As ever and expected from David Crystal, a highly entertaining and informative book for those with an interest in the history of English. Linguists might know most of the historical aspects already, but for the general reader this book contains a wealth of information written in a lively style. It's also nice to see a little of the personal side of the author in the choices rather than just the highty entertaining factual writing style that those who are familiar with his work know.
It's Your Time You're Wasting: A Teacher's Tales o&hellip by Frank Chalk
I left the FE sector 4 years ago - this book contained examples that are familiar to me, too. Laughed out loud in some parts, shook me head at the failings of the system in others. Recommended.
