In My Own Words:
When reviewing, for better or worse I try to add a bit of personal experience, background, anecdotal information etc. Some people don't seem to appreciate this, but there you go. If you want to read more of my self-indulgent ramblings about the music I love, see my Neil Cake blog on Myspace.

Books: I like modern classics mostly, but am gradually working my way backwards. Favourite writers are Orwell, Steinbeck, Hunter S. Thompson, Joseph Heller, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isaac Asimov, Gunter Grass, Albert Camus, Tom Wolfe, Joseph Conrad...… Read more

This is actually the first time I've reviewed a game. I can't pretend to have played everything, so just take it for what it is. I pretty much got an Xbox because I had some spare cash, and I wanted to play Fifa. Shortly after that, I realised I could get older games for bargain prices, so now I have quite a few. So far I've particularly enjoyed Fallout 3, Colin McRae Dirt 2 and Bioshock 2. I might review them later, if I still don't feel like doing anything.

So anyway, Crackdown. Good game. Like it. I've played GTA 4, so I obviously recognised some similarities with that, except here you're on the right side of the law. It does play very differently, though.

Now, just because something makes you feel intelligent, it doesn't mean that you are. Nor does it mean you're not intelligent if something doesn't appeal to you in this way.

For me, Mad Men has great depth. It is very slow to get started, though. The first episode was intriguing, and I felt… Read more

So, some people have given this 5 stars. Then, other people who don't like this record so much, think that all the people who've given it 5 stars are "Neil Young devotees" who give him 5 stars regardless of the quality of the music. Is it not possible that some people do think this deserves 5 stars?

Let me tell you; I'm a Neil Young devotee. But that doesn't mean I think this is a 5 star record. I don't. I too read some of the hype about this record before it's release, claiming it was an instant classic, and that this was Neil's best writing since the 70s. I don't think it is. I'm not disappointed though. But you know; I don't like all Neil's albums. I would give quite a few of… Read more
