`Hitch' is an above average romantic comedy which has some genuinely funny laugh out loud moments and plenty of Will Smiths charm and humour. Smiths character, Hitch, is a dating consultant who, whilst easing the path of many geeky men in their own lovelives, has trouble wooing the lady he is interested in himself. This makes for many funny scenes where he coaches his clients to be suave and sophisticated on the one hand and then watching him royally mess things up on the other. The scene where Hitch has an allergic reaction to shellfish is especially funny and Smith carries it off with style. Rocky Balboa, Blu-Ray, 3 Jul 2009

`Rocky Balboa' is a pretty credible addition to the Rocky series which has a decent story, decent direction and decent acting from Stallone. Considering he wrote, directed and starred in this film that's not bad going at all. Following Rocky as he fights a comeback `exhibition' fight with the reigning world champion, this film has plenty of fight scenes and Rocky training with the usual rousing soundtrack to add to the atmosphere. Stallone shows Rocky's motivation for wanting to fight again and his relationship with his son to good effect and the whole film builds on the Rocky franchise, whilst also redeeming itself against some of the more dubious sequels. Tropic Thunder, 2 Jul 2009

`Tropic Thunder' was directed by, co-written by and starred Ben Stiller and makes for a fairly amusing couple of hours viewing. From the spoof adverts and film trailers at the start of this film you know what you're letting yourself in for and the film continues in much the same vein. This is a spoof Vietnam film about the filming of a Vietnam film and it borrows very heavily from Platoon, as well as other famous Vietnam films to a lesser extent. If you know your Vietnam war films you can play spot the scene relatively easily.
