Let's face it, we all associate Disney with two things, Fairytales and right-wing propaganda. So what a refreshing change to have a Disney film that bucks the trend and goes all dark on us.
Loosely based on a real-life story about how Chris Columbus discovered the Arctic, this Disney offering is also the first Disney film to combine animations with real life actors. So what we get is an animated reindeer dancing with the Snow Queen (Meryl Streep). The concept is good, but the execution less so, with actors physically walking through the animated characters at numerous points, this makes it somewhat unconvincing.
