I found this book extremely interesting, and I learned many things from it I didn't know.
The history of the sexual revolution is fascinating, and the author does a great job of following through from the olden times to modern times so that you can track how we ended up in this still confusing culture.

I highly recommend it if you are interested in history, feminism, or if you just want to learn something new.

As a premise, I need to say I've always enjoyed literature involving vampires. I particularly enjoy horror book, or stories where vampirism is embedded in society in interesting ways (no Twilight, please...).

This book is a good example of vampires and other creatures living in normal society, and I found it very entertaining and funny.
The setting is very believable, the historical context that's presented makes a lot of sense, and although a lot of random stuff happens, none of it feels gratuitous.
The characters are well described and easy to root for, I particularly like the main character, and I'd love to read more books about her.

I bought this due to a great review in a SciFi magazine.
I was quite disappointed with it. The story started out interesting, but it veered into unexplicable "magic" almost from the start.

Things are hinted at, but never quite explained, so even after things are resolved there isn't a lot that makes any sense.
This is not a fault in itself (you don't need to explain everything in your book for me to enjoy it), but in this case it simply felt like the story had missing parts in it, because any logical explanation was hard to think of.
