Book is part of series it seems but you can read Cauldron of Blood without reference to author's other novels. Author, like soldiers, has dark sense of humour and the language can be quite colourful at times (though I'm not complaining). Overall plot is excellent, author knows his history and story is filled with some strong action set pieces. Put simply, the war on the Eastern Front was harsh and gruesome. A must read for anyone interested in WWII, or the Eastern Front in particular.

As a fan of the work of Charles Baudelaire, I decided to give this book a try, but I think the book would make for interesting reading to those who may not have read his work too. The authorís descriptions of literary Paris are both vivid and beautiful and transport the reader back to a world of sheer decadence, and intoxication. Having read up on the story of Baudelaire and Duval, I found the authorís approach to his muse very fascinating as she is so often neglected and dismissed in criticism. The Case of the Peruvian Diamond by G.W. Colkitto
As a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, I downloaded this book out of curiosity more than anything else. Have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Itís an entertaining and easy read, and at less than 100 pages, I had no problem devouring it in one sitting. Symes is a worthy rival for Holmes and I enjoyed the chemistry between him and his sidekick Ritson. If I had one criticism it would be that I just wish it had been longer. Will definitely be downloading the rest of the series!
