The Hipsters ~ Deacon Blue
The Hipsters ~ Deacon Blue
I rarely like music on first listen but I got into this album on the second & third.

A measure of its strength is Deacon Blue's tour in October 2012 when most of the new tracks were played amongst the old favourites but it didn't disrupt the pace of the show as is often the case when established acts play new material. Similarly the new songs don't feel out of place when I shuffle DB tracks on my iPhone.

My favourite track is The Rest, a pacy number that was brilliant live, followed by The Hipsters and Turn. Stars also deserves a mention but it's a cracking album all the way through.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise, 20 July 2012
As a long time Elton John fan and something of a completest there was no way I would not buy this but I wasn't too keen on the idea as current pop/dance music isn't my thing.

But I was more than pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed this album. It's very creative and innovative and at times had me struggling to remember which Elton songs were being sampled.

Hopefully this will introduce a new generation to the wonderful music of Elton John.

This thought provoking and moving story highlights the conflicts foster carers must sometimes have when dealing with troubled children from appalling circumstances.

There's an excellent twist at the end.

It's a real page turner and I hope we get more from Melissa soon.
