5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Humour Wins Out, 1 Feb 2005
This man has traveled a wierd, winding, and illicit road. There are some heavily difficult parts to read to be sure because of subject matter (graphic details of child abuse) but the way author Augusten Burroughs finds the dark humour in dark times makes it enjoyable along the same lines as MY FRACTURED LIFE (Rikki Lee Travolta) or DRESS YOUR FAMILY IN CORDUROY AND DENIM (David Sedaris).

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily Enjoyed, 1 Feb 2005
What is most appealing about THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is that it isn't daunting. You pick it up and you know it's a climbable mountain, it invites you to read it - somewhat like THE NOTEBOOK by Nicholas Sparks or MY FRACTURED LIFE by Rikki Lee Travolta. And, or course, once you do sit down and let the first page lure you in, you are in for the journey. What a wonderful journey it is too.
