Teresa of Avila by Peter Tyler
Teresa of Avila by Peter Tyler
2.0 out of 5 stars A distorted biography, 9 Jun 2014
I was very disappointed with this book. The author was overly influenced by an analytic philosophical outlook which prevented him from ever allowing St Teresa herself from speaking effectively about her real spirituality.

So, the reader was virtually cut off from knowing her and her writing, and being able to be touched and directed by either. Contrast this with the treatment of her and St John of the Cross in Edward Yarnold's chapter in the book 'the Study of Spirituality', SPCK, 1986.

This flexi-back edition is just rubbish and the publisher should be ashamed of the standard. The print is very feint and after a little use pages start to come out!
Landscapes and Geomorphology: A Very Short Introdu&hellip by Andrew Goudie

This is a great little book if you are coming to the subject for the first time. I puts the sciences involved in excellent focus and really shows how important the interdisciplinary context is for understanding the relationship between geomorphology and the contemporary global landscape. There is an adequate human perspective to the whole treatment. I guess if you wanted perfection you would want an extension into sustainability and human influence on habitat and architecture. But this is a very short introduction, and Oxford UP are to be congratulated on adding another valuable addition to their growing series.
