A thorough and detailed reference guide, and I look forward to using it on an upcoming trip to the UK. I wish it had a complete reference map for locations of churches and a list of the author's favorites.
Pitkins are the reliable standard guide for visitors to English Cathedrals, and this guide does a solid job. Not overly detailed, but will be useful to anyone who isn't at the grad student level in church architectural history.
Very helpful and thorough reference book with a good map and detailed descriptions. The one thing it lacks is a list of highlights -- say those ten or fifteen churches that the author deem special, but that sort of list should be easy to find on the web. I look forward to using it on an upcoming trip.
