This film, directed by Sergio Leone, is exactly what kids these days don't want out of a film - it is long, slow, and at times nothing is really happening (as in the scene where Noodles stirs his coffee for about two minutes), but it is a wonderful film nonetheless. The slowness, and the beautiful, elegaic score by Ennio Morricone (which you will find yourself whistling for a long time) add to the feeling of trying to find your lost youth. The entire movie comes to a head in the last couple of scenes, which are so beautiful they will make you choke on your microwave pizza, and realise why you have been watching this film. Essential, but not for the younger generation.
