Suites for the Harpsichord ~ Glenn Gould

Proof that being a great pianist is no guarantee of being any good at playing the harpsichord. Glen Gould has an excessively heavy touch not suited to the harpsichord. To make matters worse his poor technique is combined with an inferior instrument. The Wittmayer he plays is certainly not the Steinway of harpsichords. Only buy this CD if you are curious to hear what Gould sounded like on a harpsichord. If you are interested in Handel's harpsichord suites, or harpsichords, then avoid this bizarre performance.
Rostropovich and Britten Recital ~ Claude Debussy

I have well over 2000 CDs and this is simply one of my most treasured. I never tire of listening to it. I originally bought it for the Schubert but discovered that the performances of the Schumann and Debussy are wonderful too. An irreplacable record of two great musicians together.
