5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful movie, 12 Oct 2010
I watched this movie without reading any of the blurb on the back of the case. I really wasn't prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that this film was. The acting was superb. Leonor Varela shows that she is not just a pretty face, she was brilliant, completely beleivable as a mother struggling to make ends meet and raise small children. Her facial expression during one particular scene with Chava made me cry! As for Carlos Padilla - amazing!
This movie is a true account and some of the content is disturbing. Top marks from the directors for capturing the 'essence of innocence' and how easily that is destroyed.
Three Cups Of Tea by Greg Mortenson
Three Cups Of Tea by Greg Mortenson
I could not put this book down. Greg Mortensen's journey was written so well that I felt all his emotions. More importanly it brought to light the lack of education in Pakistan, attitudes towards this, the constant battles Mortensen faced. However his endless energy, zeal for making a change in a very very beautiful yet difficult country are inspiring to all.

I was not sure what to expect as I had not paid much attention to the trailer for this. If you have not seen it, then you simply must. The film is about the Mayan civilisation . Jaguar Paw's journey is one viewers really connect with. It's one of those films where you simply can't describe it well enough, it must be viewed. I was left exhausted when it finished, I felt as I had run every step with Jaguar Paw!
Top class from Mel Gibson, absolutely brilliant!
