Due to the previous poor reviews of this box set criticising the transfers, I held back from buying it for over a year. However I eventually took the plunge - and I'm very glad I did. The quality of the transfers is absolutely fine. No problems whatsoever. I recommend this set whole heartedly - we are very lucky to have these rare films available in the UK.
The Great Santa Barbara Oil Slick ~ John Fahey

This gem has surfaced having been recorded live at two gigs in 1968/9. The quality of the recordings is pretty good and the playing is excellent, with one or two pieces eclipsing the originals. This is from a time when Fahey's playing was melodic, emotional and moving and before his journeys into the longer, rambling and, let's face it, less enjoyable territory. This work, then, is highly recommended - I wanted to give it four and a half stars really.

4.0 out of 5 stars STUNNING DEBUT!, 30 Sep 2004
Goswell has produced a stunning debut album that reeks of confidence and maturity. Her vocal phrasing dances through the mesmerising melodies in a totally original way. The only criticism I could level again this otherwise perfect piece of work is that the delicate singing is sometimes a little lost in the production. For me, a voice as fabulous as Goswell's deserves the 'less is more' treatment. When the production is reduced to simple elements, the achingly beautiful voice and hauntingly familiar melodies linger in your mind.
This is a highly recommended, and somewhat special album.
