1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, 11 July 2008
This book is written by someone with no understanding of the Maya. Not only are the glyphs innacurately drawn in many cases, the explanations of their meanings are equally poor. This book is a classic example of western thought structures being imposed on a culture that has a totally different outlook on life and the universe. The author didn't bother to ask the one group of people who could give her the real answers: the Maya themselves.

1.0 out of 5 stars Regretfully..., 4 May 2008
...this film can be seen as proof that God is dead. He probably died of embarassment when he realised that his creations were going to come up with this steaming pile of fertilizer. My biggest regret in life is that he didn't take everyone involved in the making of this film with him before they inflicted it on the world.

This book is excellent. If you are looking for a magick-for-dummies type book this is the one for you. It's the perfect starting point for the serious would-be magician. It covers the basics in many areas and provides suggestions for further reading on the individual subjects. And unlike many books that do this, not all of them are from the same publisher! That must be magick.
