Poke your eyes out with sticks rather than sit through this phenomenally bad film. Ray Stevenson is the only actor not hamstrung by mis-casting and D`Artagnan has a face (and a stupid wig) you would never tire of punching which, along with some cheap-looking CGI and Paul Anderson`s heavy hand on the tiller (when will he stop casting his squeeze, Milla, in his tatty films?), results in a stinking mess that all involved apparently thought would launch a franchise! Comedy indeed!

A great set-up with an opener that throws you right in with no messing about and then follows that with nigh on 100 minutes of increasing degradation and a frankly insultingly nonsensical intervention from radiation-suited government types in the first quarter. The final excellent couple of minutes do not help to get rid of the feeling of abject squalor you will carry with you after the movie ends. Avoid.

If you want better recent post-apocalypse movies try The Vanishing on 7th Street or Darkest Hour. Neither will win awards but 7th… Read more

Don`t try and force a narrative onto what unfolds before your eyes, just let the film transport you back to those youthful, heady days when you could while away an entire afternoon just gazing at the box-cover artwork in your local video-rental store imagining the delights within. The… Read more
