I watch birds mainly in hides on a large RSPB marshy site in Southport, Lancashire and these are just right for the job. If you were watching mainly fast moving birds you might want to consider the same manufacturer's wider field of view version (8x42's).

Second one of these I have purchased - other in white from another site. Cannot understand why they are so cheap, as they really are the business, keeping you cool and comfortable when exercising. Use mine in my home 'gym' (alright, boarded out area above the garage!), under my windproof riding top when on the bike and as a bottom layer when on the hills. Great kit, washes well and does not do the usual trick of being smelly after one wear! Buy one today and enjoy, especially at the low price I paid <5...

Got this from Amazon last week and so far so good. Its small (think Blackberry 9000 series)but has got a bit of weight (too heavy to comfortably carry around in a suit pocket for example). USB lead is shortish (c.12 inches), but I think is sufficient for most users - who likes spaghetti on the desk anyway? When working it is quiet and the light blue LED unobtrusive but easy enough to spot when the drive is doing something.

Set up was relatively easy, but I ended up with icons on the desktop that you do not need in the long term. Had not realised that it came with Picasa3 (Google's version of photoshop) which I decided to load and have a go with. Am actually impressed with it… Read more
