I didn't like the previous book - I found it a bit slow and difficult to keep track of all the characters, so had considered giving up on the GoT series - I'm glad I didn't, after a slow start this book returns to the page-turning narrative of the first few books.
Brilliant continuation of the Game of Thrones series. Occasionally too much detail making it a somewhat slow and ponderous read rather than the page turner you would expect, but otherwise I would thoroughly recommend the series so far.
A brilliant fantasy although the dynastical politics somewhat implausible - 3 uncles of the king unmarried and without children? Highly unlikely. However it is still a gripping page turner (just don't actually think about it!)
