5.0 out of 5 stars A fitting finale, 6 April 2013
I have been waiting for the last installment of Europa City with baited breath and I was definitely not disappointed. The shift away from the Marlowe-esque character of Brecht to the far more idealist character of Duvall was surprising but also satisfying as the this book had a much stronger sci-fi feel to it and didn't need Brecht's brooding complexities. Reminiscent of William Gibson's Neuromancer, The Violet Hour drags you deep into the vicious and sordid underbelly of Europa City and the machinations of the various corporations that control it. Only one complaint and unfortunately it would be a spoiler if I mentioned it here so be warned Mr Steelgrave, you will be getting a scolding!

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Finally finished at 3.50am. Decent depth of characters and deliciously unpleasant villain. Would recommend to anyone that likes a good dark fantasy.

Was introduced to this author by a mutual friend and having been drawn in by book one (Starblood) I couldn't wait for the release of Psychonaut. I was not disappointed. Beautifully drawn characters abound, even the minor roles are intensely believable and fully fleshed and the plot continues at a frenzied pace, barely stopping for breath. Sat down to read at 9pm, finished at 3am. Thoroughly un-putdownable! Waiting with baited breath for Black Sun and the conclusion of Satori's tale.
