I have discovered this BBC version of Jane Eyre quite recently and fell in love with it.
Yes, Dalton is too handsome as Rochester, but he captured all the complexity of the character, and gave a sparkling rendition of this character (almost bad-looking in some scenes).
As for Zelah Clarke, I did not see her as an old woman as some do !? And I think she did an incredible job as Jane. She IS Jane actually. That little governess, almost an elf, with these frank eyes staring at you, this appearance of coldness hiding a tempetuous temper. She is very subtle with words and dialogs between Rochester & Jane are just a wonderful delight.
