East West is a wonderful movie, painting the reality of the Staline regime asking for the expatriates to come back in their "motherland". Oleg Menchikov (seen in the Barber of Siberia) is once again deeply moving of realism. He fights against the party to free his family from the regime. This movie describes the tragic story of million of Russians, who believed in the party and who were forced to follow it against their will. The French actresses Catherine Deneuve and Sandrine Bonnaire are once again excellent in this movie. The latter describes dramatically well the reality of a foreigner in USSR after WWII.
