I was familar with Dr Hare, the Scientologists, and so forth before reading this book, and I learned little more about the topic of psychopathy or psychiatric medicine from reading it. I didn't know about the Being or Nothingness phenomenon, so that was new. Many of the individual now-obscure therapists and "patients" were new to me as well.
My final feeling was that this was a book made up of a series of magazine pieces aimed at general interest and not a dedicated investigation as might be expected.
