The Designers Great Automobiles and the Men Who Ma&hellip by L. J. K. Setright
Many of Setright's books are too expensive for my pocket but I did buy a well-thumbed copy of this book. I have enjoyed it enormously!

I've also read Setright's 'Drive On!' and his memoir, 'Long Lane With Turnings'. Three books I'll always hold dear. One day I hope to hold the very dearest (in both sense of the term), 'A Private Car', his masterwork on Bristol Cars.

A few things to bear in mind; it may not be immediately obvious that this book is an educational tool. It's certainly not to be confused with Bruford's autobiography. This book really is for drummers only, and even then only those who are familiar with drum notation.

Assuming the above is within your capability - or that of your drum students - then snap this item up. Inside you'll find note-for-note transcriptions (courtesey of Michael Bettine) of eighteen Bruford compositions, plus accompanying technical exercises (by Bill) to improve your… Read more
Shades ~ Keith Jarrett
Shades ~ Keith Jarrett
Reissued in Japan for 2012, in a jewel case (no mini-LP sleeve like the 2006 reissue).

'Shades' was cut during the same sessions that produced 'Mysteries'. Both albums feature the regular quartet of Jarrett, Haden, Redman and Motian, augmented by percussionist Guilherme Franco.

NB: 'Shades' was reissued with 'Mysteries' in October 2011, as part of the Impulse! 2-on-1 series; they really complement one another on the single CD format. Amazon price was about £5.00 on initial release.
