By far one of the funniest books I have ever read. The humour derives from the snubs Pooter, a self absorbed city clerk receives from those he deems socially inferior. Pooter's somewhat unsuccessful attempts at gentility make him an altogether charming and loveable character, and not to mention his ever faithful wife Carrie who has to deal with the repercussions of his social aspirations. Buy this book, you will not regret it.
