The Rise Of The Silver Surfer didn't disappoint. The FF story line follows the early 60s comic books to some extent and should keep hardened Marvelites satisfied, especially with Dr. Doom stealing the Surfer's power. The Torch borrowing all the FF powers bared a resemblance to the Super Skrull, which helped to keep the original complicated comic plot (by big screen standards) uncomplicated.

It was a shame Galactus (a big dude) didn't make an appearance, or a least give a glimpse of his ship rather than a cloud of smoke. This guy is a devour of planets who gave Norin Radd cosmic powers to search the cosmos. When the Surfer decided to protect the Earth (because there was a… Read more

The reason for Marvel's success was because Stan 'The Man' Lee (the man reading the paper at the crossing in the film) attempted to put his super heroes in the real world. His readers were able to get to know and understand his characters, they did have feelings and they did tend to get hurt against the baddies. Marvel heroes spent most their time outside their costumes, because at the end of the day they had real lives to lead and being a super hero would no doubt complicate issues much further.

As an old Marvel fan I was somewhat disappointed with the first film. It got DD on the big screen so it was worth watching, but it didn't do this character any real justice. The… Read more
