I have been a cycling fan since I was a teenager - I remember the Hinault and Lemond years. I was glued to the television as Roche dragged himself back to within 4 seconds of Delgado out of sight of the cameras. I'm still in awe of the likes of Merckx, Hinault, Fignon and Lemond. Not Armstrong. As Fignon put it, "EPO turned donkeys into thoroughbreds". Lance - thanks for ruining the worlds greatest race for seven years and the reputation of a sport which inspires such passion and dedication. Watch a DVD about you 'winning'. No thanks - not even if it was given away for free.

I watched this on BBC2 in the early evenings at the start of the 80's I was allowed to have my dinner in the lounge to faciliate it (a rarity). I had wonderful memories of this series and the DVD set lived up to those memories. I shall not bore you with details of the content which could never do justice to the experience of watching these wonderful programs about life, the universe and everything. Carl Sagan is the perfect host and explains things for dummies like me without ever being condescending in his narrative. Buy this, let your children have the opportunity to see it and it will change their lives.
