Triosk are a 3-piece band from Austalia and on Headlight Serenade they create a very sophisitcated and listenable album, flawlessly fusing electronic textures with jazzy post-rock elements. The result is something dark, otherworldy and really compelling. I think its their best release yet and I urge you to check it out!

Chicago spoils us with yet another amazing post/mathrock band. Where some bands in this style can sound laboured and indulgent Piglet manage to make all those sudden time changes and interlocking guitar parts sound thrilling and this EP has been in constant rotation on my CD player. Why no reviews??? This is an absolute gem in the Dischord catalogue fitting nicely between your Rites of Spring and Nation of Ulysses records. An amazing (and still fresh sounding) punk record which goes way beyond the retro three chord nonsense that passes for punk these days, full of passion, controlled aggression and musical invention, closer in kin to The Jesus Lizard than the Sex Pistols. The playful rhythms and inventive guitar riffing stands as an interesting precursor to much of the underground emo bands which blossomed in the nineties and you can hear its influence on records like Q and not U's amazing No Kill No Beep Beep. Buy this classic record now and enjoy.
