Love On The Dole by Walter Greenwood
Love On The Dole by Walter Greenwood
The charming bonus of "Love on the Dole" is that it is so enjoyable and easy to read. It doesn't stand much as a work of art, anyone will tell you that, the storyline is simple and even the most basic Hollywood producer would recognise the tale. It's vitality and long lasting pleasure lies in the fact that it is one of the most honest and descriptive portrayals of a time in which the poor were poor and the knowledge of a worker's right didn't exist. The film is delightful however I would recommend the novel first.

For those of you whom were recommended to read Catcher in the Rye I would recommend you read Saturday Night and Sunday Morning first! It is essentially the most influential and perhaps "Kitchen Sink" drama novels of the 20th century. A note about this edition is that it has an extra context and introduction in it which is useful for the A-level student doing coursework.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good novelty present, 5 Dec 2010
The size of the shakers are roughly no bigger then your average palm, easy to hold and seems to be made out of a sturdy porcelain material. Found it easy to fit the condiments into them and they're hidden because the filler is fitted at the bottom. I brought them for a friend and they make a good novelty present for the dog lover. They're fashionable and to my amazement don't look tacky on the dining table.
