does what it says
Child of All Nations (Buru Quartet) by Pramoedya Ananta Toer
Child of All Nations (Buru Quartet) by Pramoedya Ananta Toer
another great book by Toer. The only problem is the naive way in which he promotes his leftish, dated political views. But overall he is a great author
Indonesian Slang: Colloquial Indonesian at Work by Christopher Torchia
Good book, provides a rich selection of sayings and metaphors. There are some shortcomings though. First of all some of these sayings are a bit dated and not in use by young speakers. Second, the book also provides loads of stories that are unrelated to the sayings. Sometimes they are interesting, sometimes they seem to be there only to fill in pages. Finally, it is more a dictionary of sayings, rather than a dictionary of slang. There is an obvious difference. So the book's title can be misleading. Overall a good idea for any Indonesian learner though
