The details brought this to life. The action was great but those little moments of texture were a delight. It's like the author has been living in a drawing room with antimacassars and finials and aspidistras all his life! The cave scenes at the climax were excellent and the settings generally were beautifully gothy.
I would assume from the tone that this is aimed at a younger audience but there were occasional swearies and some of the violence was quite graphic. Proper rip roaring adventure if you can stomach it.
I think Jack d'Orr and Billy Bones need another outing soon and maybe next time Jack's father can get more than a walk on part? Fascinating cameo!
