Tapping Hitler's Generals: Transcripts of Secret C&hellip by Sonke Neitzel

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book, 17 Mar 2013
I had been wanting to read this book for a long time. It is very interesting to hear the German generals in their own words. One realises they were not supermen and had many doubts and personal views about the war and Hitler. The fact that Hitler was shielded from the realities by his closest associates and also usually ignored information and advice which did not support his own interpretation of the facts.Of course the speakers were not the very top commanders as they of course were not in a situation to be captured. The only thing I was disappointed about was that there were not as many conversations as I anticipated and they were to some extent repetitive.

Completely agree with the above reviews especially Diana AN
It looks like Cornwell was asked to write so many words and is deperately trying to fill up the space. So much introspection and boring dialogue, like talking and thinking at the same time, and he is saying that but what is he thinking and not saying. Rubbish and goes on for several pages. I found myself skipping large chunks. Where was the plot where was the action? There are also some small inaccuracies, no wonder really I bet even the proof reader got bored. Maybe she is trying to write a 'great' novel. I think she should either get it together or retire.
My wife read it as well and said it was barely readable,… Read more
