The Fortune Cookie [DVD] [1967] DVD ~ Jack Lemmon
5.0 out of 5 stars a classic billy wilder, 24 Nov 2013
They certainly don't make films like this anymore which is a sad realisation about how film has changed since 1967. Contemporary comedy writers and film directors should take a leaf out of Billy Wilder's director's manual and be inspired by a masterful film maker. The Fortune Cookie is a heart-warming, cleverly written, meaningful, funny and artistically brilliant classic, where the pairing of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon is directional acting of sheer class.
A few years earlier in 1960, Billy Wilder produced The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine. It is a little darker in mood but the Wilder magic shines through to produce another touching and amusing masterpiece. CH

Is the Piano Man the ultimate Entertainer ? Well he is on this concert. Where does Billy get his energy from ? From the early eighties this brilliantly electric show shows a true master at work. OK so the visual quality may not be to current Blue Ray clarity but this is a quality timeless concert from over 30 years ago. Billy stomps out the songs we all love, with great rock n roll attitude, and then sings out his heart as the romantic balladeer. To fans who lived through Billy's best years, we can enjoy and marvel at his showmanship. All the favourites from Piano Man to Glass houses are here. Buy this brilliant DVD and be thrilled, inspired and entertained !

Want to go back in time and discover how happier people were ? Then buy this disc ! When you listen to music as quality as this it almost makes you feel like thinking "Wasn't music brilliant then ! " Simple tunes, wonderful melodies, exciting beats...and above all musical. The journey from the late twenties through the thirties up to the outbreak of another war, is well presented here ! Have a refreshing change from dull and boring current musak. Rediscover the past ! This disc will put a smile on your face !
