I have been following Stephan on Facebook for a while as I find his illustrations magical. I was delighted when I won a copy in a Giveaway. I read it aloud to my 2 year old daughter as soon as I opened it.
The rhyming words just flow off your tongue and you can finish the whole tale within minutes. We spent a while pointing out colours and things on the illustrations amd explained what the little girl "Loss" was doing and seeing. My little girl loved the pages with Loss praying and flying through the air with her Teddy bear best. The illustrations complement the words perfectly. Best price I could find for this egg cabinet. Arrived quickly and in perfect condition and looks stunning on my kitchen work top. It holds 12 eggs but more can be layed on top of the stacked ones if need be.
The door is quite loose and as some of the other reviews suggested a magnetic clip would make this even better. I wasn't keen on the knob handle and replaced it with a string tie with wooden chicken embellishment.
I'm really pleased with it none the less and can highly recommend it. Very sturdy, solid wood.
I've had many visitors commenting on it. Great buy.
The story and characters drew me in right from the first page.
I especially loved Ward and Sylvia, Mikey's parents who play a huge role in his life and support him all the way. Mikey is a loving character, who turns his whole life around after his daughter Holly is born. Despite his problems and broken heart, Mikey seems very sensible and grown up and fights to prove everybody wrong.
The book follows Mikey, Abby and their families for about 10 years from the birth of their daughter Holly and gives a taster of the sequel.
I would have given the book 5 stars, as it did keep me hooked from the beginning till the end, but I did feel it got slightly… Read more
