Georg Buchner left us two plays that continue to speak to us: Woyzeck is one of them. Alban Berg took the play and set it to music in a radical new style. This production sets the tale in a modern urban environment. I was reminded of Genet's "le Balcon".

If you are planning to see Punchdrunk's The Drowned Man in London, buy this first. Gutwrenching!

5.0 out of 5 stars a real treat, 1 Nov 2013
This is a problematic opera to put on stage. Other productions go headlong to achieve the surreal onstage, and end up with clunking, half-baked ideas that detract from the whole. This production is carefully staged, stylish and beautiful. It radiates like the music as we are drawn into the strange sepulchre of Bruges and a lover's grief.

One to own.
Gustav Klimt - The Complete Paintings by Tobias G. Natter
5.0 out of 5 stars knockout quality book, 1 Nov 2013
beautifully wrapped up and posted, thank you. Super service from the seller!

A splendid book for all completists. it is a big and heavy book. The quality of the images is superb, thank you Taschen.

Worth having to enjoy more of Klimt after you have been to see "The Portrait in Vienna 1900: Facing the Modern" at the National Gallery in London. Then go to Vienna to enjoy even more (and others from Schiele, Kokoschka, Gerstl, Romako etc)
