The heat link installation at first seems like a curse - The wires the thermostat used to "switch" are now used to power the nest on the wall instead, and the heat link does the switching much closer to the boiler (I have a zoned system).

However, if you think about it, this opens up a vast new set of possibilities - Having the heat link control the switching local to the boiler means that existing thermostat locations can be moved. It's not as neat (Nest needs to be powered by old thermostat cables or by a plug and wire running up the wall to it, although cable clips are provided for this) but if your old thermostats were in impractical places (inside master bedroom for… Read more
