4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good!, 5 Mar 2014
Ordered this for the Kindle by chance...had never heard of the book or the author, I must admit - but was just flicking around looking for something new to read.

I've only read 4 chapters so far - but I have to say it's pretty good! Some very engaging characters and the plot is bubbling along nicely with the threat of some real danger from the "aliens".

The author is clearly a Star Trek fan lol which is no bad thing in my book! The whole story has a very Trek-like atmosphere to it - again, not a bad thing. Combat is laughable - I appreciate that combat isn't the aim of the game, bu when it's unavoidable it's clunky and pretty rubbish...just seems to be a case of pushing RB a few times until they go down?

Gameplay feels glitchy and awkward...with a… Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars BIG disappointment, 10 Dec 2013
I've been looking forward to this game for Xbox One pre-order got delayed by useless sales staff at a certain Hight Street shop (note I didn't pre-order from Amazon) so I finally got to play Son of Rome at the weekend. I love the Roman/Gladiator theme, so this game had (for me) the same excited expectation that GOW did when I pre-ordered the Xbox 360.

I installed the game and for 30 minutes sat there marvelling at the absolutely superb graphics - in my opinion the best I've ever seen. The graphics, the scenary, the lighting...everything is superb. Really showcases the power of the Xbox One.

But then, by level 3 in the game, the sad realisation hits that… Read more
