Tracey is probably best known for appearing in Thea Gilmore's backing group and that's how I came across this exceptional album.
She is blessed with a beautifully clear and powerful voice and her songs are intelligent, subtle, melodic and moving. Would recommend this in particular for someone who appreciates Laura Marling, Ron Sexsmith, Kirsty Maccoll, Teddy Thompson or Tracey Thorne.
Don't suppose I'll ever fully understand the hit and miss nature of the music industry but this magnificent debut album deserves to be much more widely owned and loved. I'm old enough to be the father of these guys but this is timeless music. Haven't felt this excited since the REM debut. Get in early and impress your friends - The Electric Soft Parade will be massive. .
If you've found your way this far you almost certainly have a taste in music beyond the bland and disposal. This is amongst only a very select few albums that I'd give 5 stars to. If you like steamy southern blues and articulate guitar playing then buy this album. The final track will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. It's a triumph - do I make myself clear?
