I smoked between twenty and thirty a day and had failed many times to give up. I thought it impossible until my doctor lent me this book. The simple psychological idea that Gilian Riley uses is brilliant. There is no trickery of the mind or advice on how to fool yourself into quitting as with some other books. For all you cynics out there, and I was one of them, this book is the one that may save your life. I haven't smoked now for eight years and giving up gave me a feeling of control over my own life that I have to this day. I cannot recommend this book enough.
