The Railway Man by Eric Lomax
The Railway Man by Eric Lomax
The title gives little clue to the fact that this book is about suffering and forgiveness of those who caused it. It is a powerful reminder that the imposition of suffering can be beyond the control of those inflicting it, and that forgiveness is essential if the hurt is to be healed. A truly great book.
Philomena: The true story of a mother and the son &hellip by Martin Sixsmith
A moving story, although somewhat disappointing in some ways that I won't go into so as not to spoil the story for any potential readers. What I will say is that this is a book infinitely worth reading by anyone who cares about human relationships, and their effect on individual people.

Another unputdownable read from one of our foremost crime novelists. The plot is sophisticated, yet believable. All in all, an excellent and exciting read from beginning to end.
