The songs on this album literally made my jaw drop. The keyboards add a new dimension to the songs which sound wonderful. Piano solos on a Joe Satriani album? it's true. The overall vibe and energy is fantastic, Joe sounds refreshed, energized and raring to go. It's so good to hear that (much missed) Marshall tone again!. I can't pick a favourite song as they are all very strong compositions, the production is also superlative. This album has Mike Keneally on keyboards and Allen Whitman on bass respectively. The band interaction is excellent, they sound like they have been playing together for years!. I had high hopes for this album after the very disappointing ''Professor Satchafunkilus''… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of this world!, 28 Feb 2009
I wish i could give P.U.L.S.E more than a mere 5 stars, it simply isn't enough! this is the most eye popping, jaw dropping, utterly astounding concert i have ever watched. In my opinion it is the greatest show on earth and is extremely unlikely to ever be topped, it's impact on me each time i watch it is more than i could put into words in this review but the description above will suffice. Starting with the packaging, i love the ''eyeballs on the beach'' art design by Storm Thorgerson, it's ''eye'' catching! perhaps that was the intention. Inside there is a 8 page booklet with some stunning images taken from the concerts at Earls Court in London back in '94. On both discs there is a cool… Read more

I am sorry to have to award Joe with just 2 stars for his latest release as i am a fan, but this is extremely poor material. I loved ''Super Colossal'' i thought it was Joe's best album since ''Crystal Planet'' however this is reminiscent of ''Strange Beautiful Music'' my least favourite album by Satch. ''I Just Wanna Rock'' is simply awful, i can't help cringing when i hear the crowd response. The title track? hideous, it is in my opinion profoundly cheesy, i presume that was Joe's intention, if so he really succeeded!''Out Of The Sunrise'' isn't bad, just very repetitive. The outro chorus melody goes on too long as if it was simply looped, no variation of the melody whatsoever, the song… Read more
