Abigail's Party (BBC) [1977] [DVD] DVD ~ Alison Steadman
Abigail's Party (BBC) [1977] [DVD] DVD ~ Alison Steadman
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent., 14 Sep 2013
An amazingly excellent performance, of a superb work of razor sharp cutting social comment which ignores "appropriate social attitudes", and which is as at least as relevant now as it was when it was written. In it the ' Brits' are very well mirrored. Look and learn!
A ' must-have' for any lover of theatre and film; beautifully cast, dressed, directed, set, and lit, and all this at an amazingly affordable price which is almost a ' social service'!.
The War Collection: Volume 2 [DVD] DVD ~ John Mills
3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm!, 1 Aug 2013
Very mixed;

' Ice cold in Alex' very good.
' I was Monty's double' Goodish, but skimped and very 'stagey' in places.
' Went the day well?' Forgettable I would only watch that one again if it was the only DVD that the burglars hadn't taken and the weather was cold and foul, and the shops were closed and the TV was out of action.
There were excellent war time films, I remember them well, but I do wonder why the compilers of this collection have chosen most of these? It's a pity, and seems like a missed opportunity to me.
Philip's Moon Observer's Guide by Peter Grego

A superb book and very well worth the money. Very well researched; one could say no other when faced with such a learned barrage of fascinating facts so clearly and painstakingly presented. This is a ' must' for amateur astronomers.
but I also would have liked a large scale full moon map to pin up on a wall.
