3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all, 17 Mar 2009
Sitting here recovering from an operation, feeling sorry for myself. Decide to watch St T against my better instincts and find myself laughing out loud!!!! First when Camilla (Rupert Everett) and Geoffrey (Colin Firth)gaze into each other's eyes with love, and utter............another time, another country. Well, you have to know the 1984 film to get the joke. Then Firth in a wet shirt, the plan to steal 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' and other jokes targeted at our Col. Plus Russell Brand and the girls who are not the old empty-headed sexpots of the original, but sassy, determined ladies.Wicked ladies, of course.
Good stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Freudian slip!, 24 Feb 2009
I so agree with all the reviwers, and as a teacher it's great to see parents share their childhood favourites with their kids. Does anyone remember seeing Clement Freud read this on 'Jackanory'? I thought I'd die laughing when he described halving the potatoes so'd they'd take 10 rather than 20 minutes to cook, then halving and halving again............2 and a half minutes. WHY DOESN'T THIS WORK???? But it's hilarious all the same. I always wished I had all those weird and wonderful characters to visit too. A very underrated book........spread the word!

WARNING! Do not, as I did, attempt to listen to this CD whilst driving. It could seriously damage your health, as being blinded by tears of laughter is not a good thing for the average motorist.
I have been a fan of Barry Cryer since 'Jokers Wild' in the early 70s. He has written for all the greats, and should be a megastar. This performance showcases his talent marvellously - and let's not forget Col!!!
What makes this unique is that you can listen to it countless times and still find it funny. Having seen Barry live twice, I had heard it all before, but still I was a helpless, wet lump in charge of a lethal machine when I played this CD recently in the car. The man is a… Read more
