Having lived in Dorset for the past 18 years and having a father in law who was a fireman on the GWR I can vouch for the truths expressed in this charming and poignant documentary about what seems altogether another world from today's. Well edited with rich photography and a plethora of interviews and colour film clips, this identifies an entire community which lasted for around a hundred years and was broken by men interested in consolidating power and ensuring no competition from local structures would threaten their monopoly in the future. The current hysteria over carbon capture - it is carbon dioxide which makes plants grow, is both appalling science mixed with plain old fashioned lies used to implement a control system over people. I had not come across Jason Statham before but know Donald Sutherland from Kelly's Heroes days. I watched this on a Jet Airways flight yesterday and pre ordered it today. The story IS far fetched especially when an assassination attempt goes wrong - so it is great fun, entirely unbelievable but the kind of film you never ever stop wondering what will happen next. Great acting and the ending is superb. No it is not sophisticated as James Bond but it is a lot more exciting. From a philosophical point of view it is big evil vs little evil - there is very little "good" in it at all but it is nice to see evil people eliminated in such justly deserved ways.
