This is a truly excellent record - easily the best cut-and-paste style sample-based album since Endtroducing.
Much more fun and uptempo than Shadow's stuff, this album also features some of the finest and most intelligent rap tunes you'll hear.
Head nodding stuff from beginning to end - undoubtedly in the top five of the year.

it's difficult to put into words what makes this album so special - as the moods and emotions of the music itself are so understated and perfectly judged... it's a lot more mellow than the music of the detroit techno masters, but easily the equal of any of Carl Craig's stuff in terms of melody.
The music was supposed to have been inspired by Detroit's architecture and it does sound like a film score in places, as it's so intensely evocative. Excellent, mature music that sounds just as good as background music as it does through headphones.

I had high hopes for this album after hearing doseone with boom bip on 'the Birdcatcher Returns' - really good abstract hiphop... but it failed to live up to them.
Call me old-fashioned but I quite like my music to make a connection - abstract is good but there is a boundary between oddly phrased lyrics that make you think and abstract ramblings of total drivel, and this album crosses it.
