The Dead and the Dying is an intricately plotted exciting noir piece that takes you on a constant ride of twists and turns. From Brubaker's carefully tuned ear for hard boiled dialogue and Phillips's noir kissed artwork this book is the whole package. The Dead and the Dying is one of the most constant beautiful reads I have come across. The fact that it does not hold back adds to the impact and importance of the work.
Additional material is also available in the back of the book containing two essays by Brubaker which too are entertaining (I just hope they publish all the essays somewhere from the single issues)
This album is a great addition to any one who likes Tarantino films, collects soundtracks or just likes listening to good, may i say again 'cool' music. Ennio Morrocone's 'l arena' is a beautiful song, and Johnny Cash's version of 'a Stratisfied mind is mesmerising'. Great sound bites from the film. A great addition to one great album. Not one bad song on a Tarantino soundtrack...again.
