I read this in prepartation for doing the paleo 30 day challenge that Robb suggests in his book. It's a popular test within crossfit circles and is adopted either as a lean up method or people have usually progressed from the zone diet, which is Crossfit's other recommended form of nutrition. I'm familiar with Robb Wolf from his nutrtion work with CrossFit HQ before the fall out between the parties. I love his sense of humour and this book is full of it I'm glad to say. If it is your first inroads into the paleolithic/stone age paradigm then its a good place to start. You have the science parts if you can stomach the reading or you can cut to the chase! An interesting read for anyone who is involved in combat sports or martial arts in terms of revealing the mindsets of men who deal with the ins and outs of conflict on a regular basis. One thing of note is that the toughness of many of these men is rooted in their experiences of being bullied growing up. They seem to use all that frustration and anger after they had reached breaking point and decided they aren't taking it anymore. Some learned to box, others learned martial arts, the rest just came out fighting. A common theme though is that they are fighting that childhood bully and the fire that gets fuelled by that is powerful stuff!

I was looking for the same quality as Band of Brothers without it being some carbon copy and was left dissapointed to be honest. The characterisations were far better in Band of Brothers as the bigger cast of Easy company were delved into more. With only three soldiers mainly focused on it meant a lot of others became background fodder and became indistinguishable a lot of the time in the dark rainy settings. It's quite slow paced I found for the most part. There are a few all action episodes in there and they are a welcome change.
