Anjunabeats Volume 11 ~ Above and Beyond
Anjunabeats Volume 11 ~ Above and Beyond

Most reviewers seem to be arguing that Vol.10 was the weakest of the Anjunabeats series and that Vol.11 is an improvement but I would have to disagree. I thought Vol.10 kept true to what the series is all about, which is to showcase the latest signings and releases on the Anjunabeats label, and if the current flavour at the time of the Vol.10 release wasn't to everyone's taste they shouldn't be complaining about it. It's obvious that Above & Beyond have reacted to their fans comments on this album as they've taken a different approach but I don't think it's worked as well as some of the reviewers here are praising about. BBC Radio 1's Dance Anthems Ibiza ~ Various Anthems
As with the first album, this is a great track selection by Danny Howard that captures the main sounds being played in the clubs in Ibiza and beyond this summer. The two mixes are split by EDM (Mix1) and deep house (Mix2). Both mixes contain a lot of new tracks that haven't appeared yet on other compilations and you also won't find too many of the same old tunes that have already been included on a dozen other compilations by now, which is nice to see. Only downside is the songs feel a bit cramped with 20 tracks on each disk, but apart from that and the awfully bright orange on the cover/sleeve this is a great collection for the summer.

This year's release follows the 2013 edition in much the same approach with CD1 containing all the EDM sounds, CD2 - deep house and CD3 - trance. Unfortunately though, the mixing falls short of the usual high standards we've come to expect from Cream and what could have been a brilliant club mix has been reduced to horribly short transitions with a totally random track order. CD1 has some good moments but overall the… Read more
