The Sea Tiger and Oscar, a merboy, are inseparable friends. Together they explore a world rich in adventure under a sea studded by stars.

This beautiful book explores the sweetness of friendship, the bitterness of letting go, and is saturated with a briny sea-saltiness that lingered long on my tongue. It speaks of trust, and courage and change. I’m reminded of Maurice Sendak, whose pictures told a story all of their own; carrying me through my childhood bedtime reading and seeping deep into my dreams. Are you tired of the same old bedtime stories? Are you looking for something with excitement, and humour, that will whet your visual appetite? INGREDIENTS:
Lions, and tigers, and bears! (really!) Also, gorillas, crocodiles, exasperated parents and two very, very, determined little boys…

ALLERGY INFORMATION:
This story is a little nuts. Consumption of this picture book has… Read more

Max is a kitten who chases mice, you see – he just has to establish what one looks like first…

It is so refreshing to see a picture book with simple, easy-to-follow, in-a-straight-line text too. There’s been a fashion for stylistic gymnastics with fonts in picture books lately, and though artistically interesting, they can be tough work to follow for emerging readers. No such problems here.

Now for my favourite bit… There’s a ‘Seuss-y’ nostalgia to the colour… Read more
