The Colour Thief by Gabriel Alborozo
The Colour Thief by Gabriel Alborozo
The Colour Thief combines beautiful illustrations in engaging spreads with a quietly effectual message about greed, the nature of happiness, consideration of others, and the power of small acts of kindness. In short, it is a wonderful, thought-provoking picture book.

As the story progresses, there is a subtle shift as Zot absorbs the colours that he takes. He becomes more colourful, and the world becomes a greyer place. In the end we learn that a small personal sacrifice can be a gift of happiness, and happiness can spread a long, long way.

Digby Dog Delivers: A Search-and-Find Story (Searc&hellip by Tor Freeman
I always like to road test a book before I pass it on as a gift. ‘A Search-and-Find book aimed at small children?’ I thought, and then scoffed. This beautiful book explores the sweetness of friendship, the bitterness of letting go, and is saturated with a briny sea-saltiness that lingered long on my tongue. It speaks of trust, and courage and change. I’m reminded of Maurice Sendak, whose pictures told a story all of their own; carrying me through my childhood bedtime reading and seeping deep into my dreams. Each page turn of ‘The Sea Tiger’ took my breath away. The compositions are exquisite, and the ‘watery’ oil-blurred technique and turquoise/sepia colour palate make me want to hang… Read more
